Age Well Barnet 2026 brings the community together

Steaming cups of tea, a round of indoor bowls, captivating magic tricks, and clear advice on local support! Our Age Well community day at Glebelands Indoor Bowls Club brought the very best of Barnet together.

Co-hosted by us at Radfield Home Care Barnet & Finchley alongside Radfield Home Care Camden, Islington & Haringey on Tuesday 22nd September, the event was created with a simple purpose: to bring our community together and make it easy for older adults, families, and carers to discover the wealth of services, activities, and support available across the borough.

For us, supporting people to live well as they grow older goes far beyond the care provided within someone’s home. It is about friendship, staying active, and knowing exactly where to turn when you or a loved one needs a little extra guidance.

Bowls, magic, and local advice: Highlights from the day

Rather than just offering information, we wanted our Age Well 2026 event to be a fun, welcoming afternoon out for local residents. Here are a few of the standout moments from the event:

• A mayoral visit: We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Zahra Beg, who took the time to meet local residents and exhibitors, and even tried her hand at a game of indoor bowls at Glebelands!
• Activities & entertainment: Attendees enjoyed relaxing chair yoga sessions, tea and cake with neighbours, and a fantastic live magic performance from Judy.
• Fundraising for Age UK Barnet: Thanks to the generosity of everyone who bought raffle tickets, we raised vital funds to support the ongoing work Age UK Barnet does for older adults in our community.
• Face-to-face guidance: Residents enjoyed unhurried, face-to-face conversations with local organisations, asking questions and discovering services they didn’t know existed.

Connecting our community across Barnet & Camden

One of the most valuable parts of the day was seeing connections being made, not only between residents and local services, but also between the organisations themselves.

There are so many wonderful groups, charities, healthcare professionals, community services and volunteers working across Barnet. By bringing people together, we can better understand what each other offers and make sure local people are signposted to the right support when they need it.

We were also proud to use the event to raise funds for Age UK Barnet through our raffle, supporting the important work they continue to do for older people in our community.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, exhibited, donated, volunteered, performed, shared our event or helped spread the word.

Thank you also to the team at Glebelands Indoor Bowls Club for helping us host the event and to all the local organisations and community partners who gave their time to support Age Well.

Most importantly, thank you to every local resident who came through the doors. Seeing people chatting, laughing, discovering new services and making connections was exactly what we had hoped Age Well would achieve.
