The Clever Way to Care for the Elderly

Radfield Home Care has been featured in the DaliyMail New Business / Franchising feature alongside another Care provider.

Radfield’s first franchise owner Dawn Phillips was featured alongside our founder Dr Hannah MacKechnie. We’ve shared a copy of the piece below due to coverage being available only in print and online for a limited period.

Starting a business in the care sector can be easier with a franchise.

Former furniture designer and maker Nick Turner, who started in care as a franchisee with Right At Home, says: ‘My mum got dementia and I found out about care. Buying a franchise was my fastest way to acquire the necessary care sector knowledge and saved a lot of time and money.

‘Care is a highly-regulated industry - it would have taken at least five years to reach the point I did in a year with Right At Home.’

You don’t need a background in care, but Right At Home managing director Ken Deary says: ‘We only offer a franchise agreement after a thorough evaluation convinces us that the applicant has the qualities needed.’

Investment starts from £40,000.

Dawn Phillips, franchisee with Radfield Home Care in Bromsgrove and Redditch, says: ‘Care has always resonated with me - I worked in it part-time while still at school and went on to a care career. When Radfield Home Care launched as a franchise I invested.

‘We now have individual and local authority clients and expect to grow fast. Even with a care background I found the franchisor’s support invaluable. If you are considering it, look for a franchisor who provides consistent support.’

Radfield Home Care co-founder Dr Hannah MacKechnie says:

‘We are looking for franchisees who value the opportunity to create a worthwhile business firmly rooted in their local community.

‘You do not need care experience, but your primary drive must be to provide a high-quality care service.’

The investment is £25,000, plus working capital of £31,500.
