You’ve got a friend in me: A ‘Be There’ moment on Lake Windermere

You’ve got a friend in me: A ‘Be There’ moment on Lake Windermere

We believe that the smallest shared moments often make the biggest difference in someone’s life!

As part of our ‘Be There‘ initiative, our Community Engagement Coordinator Lesley recently organised a coach trip to Lake Windermere. Bringing together clients and friends from the Marine in the Community Café, the summer outing was designed to offer a day filled with companionship, fresh air, and fond memories.

How do supported day trips for older adults help build meaningful friendships?

Supported day trips for older adults help build meaningful friendships by providing shared experiences, scenic surroundings, and a relaxed environment where conversation can bloom naturally.

The picturesque setting of Lake Windermere provided the perfect backdrop for one of the day’s most heart warming moments, as a new friendship blossomed between Lesley and Radfield Home Care client, Tina.

While admiring the scenery, Tina shared her fascinating knowledge of the area’s history, explaining how Lake Windermere was carved out by glaciers thousands of years ago and revealing that the lake’s ferries are named after birds.

She also delighted Lesley with cherished memories of her many visits to Windermere over the years, recalling scenic walks, relaxing boat trips, and peaceful afternoons spent birdwatching.

How did our Windermere day trip conclude?

The day concluded with a delicious meal together, giving everyone the opportunity to continue chatting, laughing, and creating lasting memories. Reflecting on the experience, Lesley said:

“It was such a privilege to spend a beautiful summer’s day with Tina. Listening to her stories and hearing how much she values the care and support she has received from our amazing carers over the past three years was incredibly heart warming. Days like this remind us that home care is about so much more than practical support it’s about friendship, connection, and being there for one another.”

At Radfield Home Care Liverpool & Sefton, we believe that the smallest moments often make the biggest difference.

Through our Be There initiative, we’re creating opportunities for people to connect, build meaningful friendships, make treasured memories, and enjoy life together, because no one should ever feel alone.
