Summer wellbeing

Now that the warmer weather has finally arrived, here are a few simple steps that can help you stay comfortable and well.

Try to drink fluids regularly throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty, and enjoy foods with high water content such as melon, cucumber, yoghurt and jelly.

Keeping curtains closed in sunny rooms and opening windows in the cooler parts of the day can also help keep your home comfortable. Light, loose-fitting clothing is best during hotter days.

Our care team is always here to provide support and help everyone stay safe in the heat.

This month we’ve been keeping busy with games of Qwirkle, dog walks, trips out to an art gallery and Denbies Train Tour (with a little fizz!). We’ve been enjoying lunch out together and making the most of when we had the warmer weather with walks outside.

What’s on in June

Fish and chips Fridays

An opportunity for individuals who are aged 65 and over to make friends and enjoy free fish and chips, every Friday 12pm – 2pm at Liberham Lodge, Rectory Ln, Little Bookham, Great Bookham, Leatherhead KT23 4DY

Local village days

Bookham Village Day

• Saturday 20th June, from 12pm.
• The Old Barn Hall, KT23 3PG.
• A fun-filled community day with 50+ stalls, games for all ages, hot food and a real ale bar.
• Raising funds to support improvements to the Old Barn Hall.
• Bookham Open Gardens will also take place on 14th June.

Ashtead Village Day

• Saturday 13th June, 11.30am – 5pm
• QEII Playing Fields, KT21 2BZ
• Organised by the Ashtead Rotary Club, this is one of Surrey’s largest charitable community events.
• This year’s theme, ‘Let’s Sing & Dance’, promises a day full of music, movement and entertainment for all ages and a classic car parade through Ashtead.
