Medication Support

Our management team, led by Dr Hannah MacKechnie have an in depth understanding of medication and the associated risks. We have developed our medication practices to enable carers to fully support clients with medication whilst ensuring risks are minimised.

We believe our medication services are second to none. We liaise with GP’s and pharmacists to ensure correct medication is provided to the client and work hard to provide our clients with a full medication service that allows for flexibility and choice.

Medication Administration

We can support clients with taking their medication correctly by administering it to them.  We can administer medication from original boxes or from multi-doseage systems which have been prepacked by the pharmacy (often called NOMAD or MDS packs).  We can also administer medication as creams, via inhalers, nebulisers or as nose, eye and ear drops.

It is important when we are undertaking medication administration for a client that the lines of responsibility between us, the client and relatives are clear so that the client receives their medication safely.

  Medication Reordering

We can take responsibility for reordering medication from the GP and ensuring that it is delivered in time. As with all our medication services we need to be kept fully up to date with any alterations to medication so that we can provide the correct assistance to our clients.

Medication Delivery

We can collect prescriptions from the GP surgery, take it to the pharmacy and deliver the medication to you. Most GP surgeries and pharmacies will offer this service themselves these days but we have found for some clients it is useful for their medication to be delivered to our office and can then be taken to their home by a carer who can ensure the medication is safely put away in the correct place
